This weekend BoulderCreek Neighborhoods is unveiling their newest model home in the coveted wee-Cottage® neighborhood in Superior, with the grand opening of the Cottage Five at Rogers Farm on Feb. 18.
Featuring a modern take on many of the lower-maintenance conveniences buyers adore in a Boulder Creek Neighborhoods home, the wee-Cottages at Rogers Farm are “right sized” for those seeking a well-appointed, single-family home. That is supremely energy efficient for the environment and, yes, for the homeowner. These wee Cottages are energy efficient for the environment and the homeowner, and they also minimize the time and effort required to maintain a home. Snow removal is covered by the Community Lifestyle Association (Boulder Creek’s version of an HOA), and smaller scale of the square footage simply means less to maintain indoors, freeing weekends for adventures or time with loved ones. Channeling a modern farmhouse vibe, the wee-Cottages at Rogers Farm are airy and bright while providing necessary storage and cozy gathering spaces.
Homes tailored to lifestyle
“Buyers gravitating to these homes are looking for a lifestyle, a home that enables them to live the way they want to in a house that doesn’t tie them down but does support their interests, passions and season in life,” said Boulder Creek Neighborhoods’ community sales manager Micah Davidson. “This last phase of Rogers Farm is focused on the more efficiently sized wee- Cottages, ranging from about 1,100 square feet to about 1,500 square feet, and we’ve already sold nearly half of the 55 homes.” Davidson said interest in the wee-Cottages has been predominantly driven both “by the downsizing demographic who no longer needs the big house for the kids and who wants to travel or be near grandchildren” and “by young professionals who have a lot going on and don’t have time to take care of the traditional single-family home with a huge property.”
“I’m often told that this neighborhood provides two key features homebuyers are seeking: detached homes, and outdoor space,” said Davidson. The wee-Cottages are single family homes that do not share walls, and very unique to Rogers Farm, most homes have a unique fenced front courtyard. “It’s room for a garden or maybe a firepit,” says Davidson, “and is the perfect spot to let the dog out without having to grab a leash.” The curb appeal of the neighborhood is also a standout feature, as the cottages as brightly painted with pops of reds, blues and warm grays alongside black trim.
The model Cottage Five plan features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and an attached two car garage. The home also showcases an optional 250-square foot wraparound porch accessible from the front patio and a slider in the dining room, an ideal spot for a handful of cushioned rocking chairs or an outdoor dining set and grill. “Home shoppers that tour this home really appreciate the use of space and thoughtful design,” says Davidson.
The Rogers Farm neighborhood features several other wee-Cottage designs, starting at around 1,100 square feet, with the largest plan being the three-story Cottage Eight. The Cottage Eight features three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, with a tuck-under two car garage and second floor balcony off of the living room. “The Cottage Eight definitely makes a statement,” says Davidson
A walkable neighborhood with city conveniences
“This is a very walkable location in a beautiful, vibrant area,” Davidson said. Downtown Superior, across the street from Rogers Farm, boasts a variety (some currently under construction) of restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and boutiques, and Boulder is about 10 minutes away by car. “Rogers Farm feels like a tightknit neighborhood but has all the conveniences you want – without the compact, boxed-in feel of the higher density downtown,” he said. “You’re not far from Denver or the Denver International Airport, and it is very walkable to the RTD bus line routes to Boulder and Denver, yet here you are in a beautiful, peaceful area sitting just under the Flat Irons.”
A network of dirt-packed trails and cement paths provide endless opportunities for strolling, running and cycling; hiking and winter sports are likewise a short drive from Rogers Farm. Trails on the south side of the neighborhood lead from Superior to Eldora Canyon, while the Coal Creek Trail, crowning the north side of Rogers Farm, connects to Louisville, Lafayette and Erie. Superior itself is an awardwinning community committed to sustainable, healthy living. Parks and playgrounds are abundant throughout the town, including the sprawling community park steps from the wee-Cottages of Rogers Farm, and Superior homeowners have access to two community pools.
‘A wise long-term investment’
“When you’re buying in Superior, homeowners know they are making a wise long-term investment in a very desirable location,” Davidson explained. “The town of Superior has only one more development piece of real estate for residential purposes after Rogers Farm, and when you have demand and no more development to support that demand, we all know the market can do only one thing.”
Boulder Creek Neighborhoods’ chief revenue officer noted, “weeCottages are the kind of homes that people learn about from their friends and families,” Jessica Champlin said. “It doesn’t take much to see how much they offer without weighing you down.”
She continued, “Don’t get the wee-Cottages confused with the ‘tiny house’ trend. Rather, these are homes crafted for the Colorado lifestyle that puts a premium on time spent outdoors or chasing a hobby or hanging with family and friends – instead of long weekends tending a yard and scrubbing a fourth bathroom.”
