At Home: Low-maintenance living thrills all ages.

By Sarah Huber for At Home Colorado

Low-maintenance convenience for every age and stage

Lindsay and David Kerr, millennials with a baby on the way, are moving to Rogers Farm not only because they love the location, but most significantly, because they want to spend their evenings and weekends soaking up family time, hiking, and running nearby trails. “We’ve rented since we’ve moved from D.C., and quite frankly, as millennials, we don’t want to buy a snow blower or yank out the lawn mower every week. We have too much life to live, and we’re excited to jump into it with our new baby,” Lindsay said.

The Kerrs were among the first to sign onto Boulder Creek’s new neighborhood in Rogers Farm and hope to relocate in late May. “We weren’t expecting our baby then,” Lindsay said, “but we did know we wanted a place we could grow a family. We wanted a yard for our dog. We wanted a home we could be proud to eventually bring a new baby home to.”

Lindsay got what she wanted and more. “I can hardly believe we own such a gorgeous home in such a beautiful neighborhood,” she said. When the Kerrs started looking for a home several months ago, after renting for a couple of years, they were disappointed to find few new builds around Superior. “That’s when we learned about Rogers Farm and decided to drive by,” Lindsay recalled. While the model home wasn’t yet open, David easily visualized his family thriving in the intuitive floor plans, and Lindsay loved the site, from the easy access to Denver and Boulder to the family-friendly vibe of Superior. “It gives us everything we want without having to live on Pearl Street,” she said with a laugh. “We’re used to public transit, having lived in D.C., so I like that we can take the bus to the airport or downtown Denver, but when we come home, we’re tucked away.”

Lucero explained, “Rogers Farm is an enclave of high-performance, two-story homes tucked in the wonderful location of Original Town Superior. It’s just minutes to Boulder and a stone’s throw to Coal Creek trail. This development is conveniently located across from Superior Town Center with walkability to everyday amenities.”

Rogers Farm’s tranquil setting is rare, even in Superior. The trail system alongside the western side of the community is extensive, giving you access to over 27 miles of trails and access to the Hwy. 36 paved bike bath that leads right into Boulder. Of course, Superior itself also boasts a revitalized downtown, great shopping and restaurants and a plethora of fitness and cultural outlets. Additionally, it was named among “the best suburbs in the America” by Niche magazine. These are the paths that Lindsay, a passionate runner, is itching to try out, perhaps with a stroller in tow. She said, “I was training for a marathon before I became pregnant, so I am excited about the running trails!”

Thoughtful design

Showcasing both main-floor master and two-story layouts, the three floor plans at Rogers Farm include generously-sized kitchens and pantries. One feature that especially stands out is the optional entertainer’s kitchen upgrade that incorporates Thermador or Viking appliances, a built-in refrigerator and dual dishwashers. “Buyers are excited to have plans for family and friend activities around the huge island and the open living area,” Lucero noted. “We love the open concept of the floor plan,” Lindsay said, “and were thrilled to be able to move here without settling for a townhome.”

Planning ahead, Lindsay said she appreciates the “owner’s walkin,” or mudroom, which features copious storage. “This time of year, my boots are always on standby,” she said. She also likes the thoughtful floor plan, high ceilings and the abundant windows in their House One floor plan. As the double french doors from the dining area frame the patio, “I like that we can eat inside but feel like we’re outside,” she said.

The single family home designs at Rogers Farm offer both two story and main floor master layouts. “It’s really hard to choose a favorite,” Lucero says. The House Three floor plan offers a main floor master suite, with a loft and two bedroom suites upstairs – perfect for children or guests. The two-story plans (House One and House Two) offer spacious master suites and flexible layouts that accommodate a loft space, additional bedrooms, and even a formal dining space.

From the beginning, Lindsay and David have been impressed by the high-quality craftsmanship of their Boulder Creek home and the ease of the building process. “We hear from Boulder Creek at least one a week,” Lindsay said. “They call to check in, and we’ve met the builder many times. Rebecca (Lucero) is always available to take our questions.” Lindsay and David have even started to meet neighbors, as Boulder Creek organized a holiday party in December and continues to provide connection events.

Just the right amount of outdoor living

Aside from the 500+ acres of open space available from their back door, Rogers Farm homes by Boulder Creek feature “the best of both worlds,” Lucero said, including the low-maintenance front lawn the Kerrs craved and a homeowner -maintained backyard encircled by a six-foot fence. “I’m looking forward to a backyard that is reasonable to manage and landscape,” Lindsay said. “My husband has a grand vision for the space, starting with raised garden beds.”

For car enthusiasts and garage hobbyists, Lucero said, “the buyer will have an option to choose up to a four-car garage with an optional frosted glass garage door opening to the backyard.” For more room, buyers may opt for a garage topped with a finished or unfinished bonus space.

“I love the idea of the neighborhood being two streets and being in a small community – not a sea of houses,” Lindsay said. “It’s a beautiful home without being McMansion-feeling.”

New Boulder Creek Neighborhoods’ model grand opening is this weekend at Rogers Farm in Superior

With a grand opening this Sunday, March 8, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Boulder Creek Neighborhood’s innovative enclave at Rogers Farm in Superior is proclaiming loud and clear: Low-maintenance, energy-efficient homes are for all ages – millennials, retirees and families with children.

“We’re selling at a brisk pace, with only a limited number of home sites remaining,” said Community Sales Manager Rebecca Lucero. “We’re excited about the opportunity to show off our new model home, finished by our professional design team.
