Michael & Martha, cruise into an easier life.

“We didn’t want a commitment to a lot of yardwork, and we wanted to prepare for the next phase of life.”

For years cruise buffs Michael and Martha Hunter arranged lawn care, tested their sprinklers and verified a snow shoveling schedule before heading off to sail the Mediterranean or buzzing to Mexico. Now, Martha said, “Life is very simple. We can travel multiple times a year, and we don’t have to worry about the house. It is very convenient.” Michael and Martha moved into their Boulder Creek Opportunities series patio home in southwest Longmont in 2015.

“We’re planners. We didn’t want a commitment to a lot of yardwork, and we wanted to prepare for the next phase of life.” Crafted by acclaimed lifestyle builder Boulder Creek Neighborhoods, features low-maintenance homes showcasing elegant, luxurious designs and, of course, the highly prized Boulder Creek warranty. The Hunter’s ranch-style floorplan boasts tall ceilings, voluminous light, a lavish kitchen with room to entertain and a modern, tranquil aura.

“The home is very efficient,” Martha said. “Every percent of every nook and cranny is useable space. We love the way the builder designed the house and the green construction.” Michael added that heating and cooling the home “is minimal since the house is so energy efficient.”

Originally from California, the Hunters moved to Boulder to work for IBM, before retiring early and starting a second career in elementary education. Now retired for the second time, Martha said, “we’re glad to have a house that works for our mobility and what we find of interest.”

Michael said the Boulder Creek neighborhood is quiet and friendly. “Everybody looks out for each other, and there are community socials a few times a year and morning coffees for women on Wednesdays,” he said. Martha said their travels help them to live “with gratitude” when stateside. “We come home and say with Dorothy, ‘There’s no place like home. Travel makes you appreciate what you have,” she said. The community’s ideal location in means we can “do anything here,” Michael said. “We drive up the street and have everything we need.”

The Hunters’ appreciation for their home extends to their positive experience with Boulder Creek Neighborhoods. “Boulder Creek people are amazing. Karen is the most phenomenal, upright, honest and kind sales person I’ve met,” Martha said. “Even the owners get involved. We’ve been very impressed.”
